Microtechnology Cluster

Set up in 2005, the Microtechnology Cluster is responsible for bringing together stakeholder businesses, research and development centres and training organisations, and getting them to work hand in hand on collaborative projects.
The cluster promotes the development of projects aimed at giving businesses a competitive edge, as well as ‘product/market’ projects and technological innovation projects. In this way, it allows them to acquire vital distinctive skills, such as the ability to integrate various technologies in complex systems and getting products to market more quickly by anticipating technological changes and customer requirements.

  • Hobbit (medical sector): Development of a new concept for resorbable hybrid implants made up a polymer matrix and ceramic bioactive loads.
  • Aromat (transport sector): AROMAT takes its name from the French abbreviation of‘optimised architecture for permanent-magnet railway traction motors’. Its aim is to develop a new generation of permanent-magnet motors that makes a clean break with the state of the art to respond to the market demand in the power car segment (suburban and regional railways). In particular, the project seeks to develop design tools to reduce noise and the power-to-weight ratio, cut the system cost and enhance motor efficiency.
