2. The resilience of people
History has forged the Franc-Comtois. They are variously described as modest yet forthright, deeply attached to their region where excellence and invention have long been nurtured, giving them the strength to be considerate to others, the readiness to cooperate and extend a warm welcome. "FRANCHE-COMTE always makes good use of the pride in its motto: "Comtois, surrender! Not on your life". That didn’t prevent a franc-comtois, by the name of Rouget de Lisle, writing the French national anthem."

"As what we inherit is precious to us, we contrive to ensure that here nothing is allowed to run into decline. Little does it matter whether they are relics of world-shaking history or they transmit the simple everyday details of previous generations."
