Prospects

Activities in FRANCHE-COMTÉ have heavily focused research on sciences for engineering – mechanics, optics, microtechnology… human and life sciences are also a force in the region. 

Whatever the chosen field, activities tend to benefit from a multidisciplinary approach.
FRANCHE-COMTÉ is doing everything it can to find solutions that will enable us to meet the Challenges of the years to come.

Since 2005, 4 sectors have received the "competitiveness cluster" label: microtechnologies and nanotechnologies in the Microtechnology Cluster, motor vehicles, transport and mobility in the ‘Vehicle of the Future’ Cluster, plastics technology in Plastipolis and food processing in Vitagora.

Other spheres of interest are the subject of intensive research too in FRANCHE-COMTÉ. One such is health and the environment, human and earth sciences, climatology and the development of biomaterials.

Research and innovation benefit from an approach that involves fruitful close cooperation within the region and an openness to interregional, European and international cooperation.
