The history of the automobile starts at the end of the 19th century – a century rich in inventions and technical innovations, driven by men of talent.
The automotive adventure in FRANCHE-COMTÉ is inextricably linked with the story of the PEUGEOT family.
With major production sites at Sochaux and Mulhouse, and with the biggest European automotive logistics multimodal platform in Europe, this territory is a natural location for the establishment of the « Vehicle of the future » competitive cluster.

Solutions for vehicles and transport for the future
The « Vehicle of the Future » competitive cluster is a federation of companies, research units and training centres, all engaged in synergy around collaborative innovative projects of a critical size necessary to ensure international recognition.
Multidisciplinary teams in Alsace and FRANCHE-COMTÉ, working on the projects are pursuing the development of innovative activities with high added value, making this region tomorrow’s reference for the vehicle of the future.

83 research and innovation projects have been certified since 2005. They involve 152 companies, 50% of which are SMEs, and 136 public laboratories.
€ 84 million has been mobilised by all the players involved in funding the first 41 projects.
