Besançon: an important invention for the exploration of the brain
publié le 06/03/2008

Najia Tamda and Aboubakr Bakkali – holders of doctorates in physics who have come from Morocco to Besançon to obtain postgraduate diplomas in medical imaging – have created a functional imaging device dedicated to the exploration of the brain which is capable of achieving a resolution better than 1 mm, compared with the 4 to 5 mm possible today.
Called the BrainTEP, this high performance Positron Emission Tomograph represents a major technological advance, and admirably fulfils the expectations of clinical neurology specialists. The BrainTEP offers the additional advantage of bringing together PET and MRI functions in one and the same instrument: a considerable asset!
