Raymond Blanc, a Franche-Comté chef highly respected in the United Kingdom, has been made an honorary officer of the order of the British Empire for his contribution to the gastronomy of his adoptive homeland. He went to England in 1972, opening his own restaurant in Oxfordshire in 1984, "Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons", the only country house hotel on British soil to sustain two Michelin stars and a Relais et Châteaux purple shield.
