International conferences
FRANCHE-COMTE hosts highly specialized international conferences.
A small, little-known French region, FRANCHE-COMTE is none the less recognised by specialists throughout the world in leading edge disciplines.
Evidence of this can be seen in the fact that Besançon hosted the following events – in chronological order-:
- 25 to 27 October 2006: IWMF’06,
This was the 5th International Workshop on Microfactories
An international conference with the "Microfactory" theme for the first time in France
Organizer: LAB, Laboratoire d’Automatique de Besançon (Besançon automation laboratory), recognised for its work in microrobotics, automation and industrial engineering.
100 experts of 17 different nationalities from the 5 continents
- 7 to 9 June 2007: HARMST 2007
International Conference on High-Aspect-Ratio Microstructure Technology
This conference was the 7th edition of workshops which began in 1995.
It was held from 7 to 9 June in Besançon and for the first time in France.
Organizer: FEMTO-ST, Physics, Oscillator Metrology department
150 participants attended from 20 different countries on all 5 continents
- 17 to 21 June 2007: IFToMM 2007
This 12th edition covers the general fields of theory and practical work on mechanisms and machine science. An event for meeting and sharing information on the latest progress in the general themes of theory and practical work on machines and mechanisms.
For the first time in France
Organizer: Besançon Institut de productique (production technology institute)
More than 600 researchers and industrialists from 54 countries on the 5 continents will be present.
- 27 to 30 June: 4th HPV and skin cancer meeting
A first in Besançon (and certainly the first time in France)
Besançon is recognised for its research into human papillomavirus (HPV), responsible for genital and skin cancers. Associated with a joint research programme into applied tumoral virology, several teams from the Cancéropôle Grand Est, including the Besançon laboratory and the German cancer research centre at Heidelberg, will meet to discuss their research.
Organizer: The Laboratory of Cellular and Molecular Biology - Jean Minjoz University Hospital
The 5 continents will be represented.
Presumptive range: FRANCHE-COMTE has a lot of hidden talent.
And when mechanics – automation – microtechniques - mictrotechnologies and medicine are combined, FRANCHE-COMTE has a position on the international scene concerning biomedical techniques and instrumentation. It already has many companies which are leaders in their specialities.
