According to a TNS Sofres study Franche-Comté is one of the most sporting regions in France: 62% of inhabitants of Franche-Comté practice a regular or occasional sporting activity (as against 54% of French people).
Sport also interests Franche-Comté companies since a Besançon company has just invented a cooling vest for athletes that will be tested at the Olympic Games in Beijing.

Philippe Colin in kayak (buoyed course with lanes – K2 1000 metres, with his team mate Cyrille Carré)
Reina Flor Okori in athletics (100 metres hurdles)
